As someone with naturally red, pigmented skin, it's taken me a while to get into blushers. Seeing as I typically spend extra time layering foundation over redness, I didn't really want a product to put it back on again. However, I read an article about blushers by Lisa Elridge in Elle and suddenly got the urge to try it out. I'd heard good things about the Natural Collection Blushers - and at £1.99 or three for £5 I thought I'd give them a whirl.

I loved the colour selection, they only had three in my local Boots but they were all the sort of colours I would have picked even if there had been others to choose from. Rosey Glow is the sort of blusher that can also be used as a contour, being dark enough to sculpt the face but pink enough to add colour. As it's the darkest, I tend to save it for special occassions which is when I'm more likely to have full coverage foundation and need extra sculpting. Peach Melba and Pink Cloud are lighter and more suited for everyday wear. I was suprised at how much I liked Peach Melba given that it's almost as orange as my hair, but it does suit me - I just have to double check that my lipstick doesn't clash with it.

My favourite is definitely Pink Cloud - a beautiful light pink, perfect for fellow redheads and fair-skinned girls like me. It's the one I reach for from day to day as it looks very natural on my complexion and adds just the right amount of colour to my face. I'd say it pretty much goes with any sort of eyeshadow or lipstick look so I don't have to plan my makeup around it, but it goes particularly well with the neutrals and pinks in the MUA Undresse Palette and cool-toned pink lipsticks like the Rimmel Moisture Renew in Latino. It reminds me of the bright pink blushers sported by Christina Hendricks (looking like her is kind of my life goal).

I wouldn't say the blushers are low on pigment but they are the kind that can be built up gradually - for a blusher beginner like me, that's a good thing. A good brush is helpful, too, I recommend the EcoTools Bamboo Blush Brush. It's very soft, and is just the right shape and size for quick application.
