The Mauve Lip

I noticed Anna from Vivianna Does Makeup wearing a beautiful mauve lip colour recently. It was a Nars lipstick that I'm too skint to even think about purchasing, but I was keen on grabbing something with a simlar hue from the drugstore. But then I did rummage through my stash and noticed a product that I've been neglecting.

I bought the Rimmel Colour Rush Balm in Keep Mauvin' a good few months ago on a 3-for-2, but ended up never wearing it. I have no idea why - maybe I just forgot I had it - but I'm really glad I've come to appreciate it in time for Autumn/Winter. I think mauve lips are the perfect way to wear the berry lip trend if you're a bit scared of a full-on plum or red, and much lower maintenance. This particular product can be worn as a light tint with a single swipe, or built up for a darker result. It lasts very well, as most balm-crayon formulas tend to. I wouldn't call it a dupe for the Nars Anna Lipstick as I don't own it, and Anna's picture it looks a bit more violet than this one - but to me they look very similar.

For the perfect eye makeup to compliment the mauve lip, simply grab your favourite nude eyeshadow palette and reach for the cool-toned taupe, pink and purple shades. If you want an excuse to do a bit more shopping while you're in Boots, I quite like the Natural Collection Solo Eyeshadow in Willow, it's a shimmery silver that really lights up the eyes.

I think I'm hooked - can you guys recommend any other mauve lip products?
