One Year on YouTube

Well, look at that - somehow I've managed to upload a video every week* for a whole year! Despite my plans to change my content in 2016, I still want to continue uploading regularly for as long as I'm able to. As I'm writing this, my schedule is busier than ever and I'm currently juggling my channel with a very exciting job, so the next few weeks will be a great test to see how well I can manage YouTube with real-life stuff.

One thing that really surprised me (and still does now) is how nice everyone is. I thought the internet was supposed to be full of trolls but I haven't had that many encounters with them. Instead I've found new friends all over the world, and made great connections with other creative people. After a year of uploading videos I can tell you that networking is far more important than I thought it would be, however it's not as much of a chore as I originally assumed - it's actually quite fun.

I've really enjoyed making new videos every week and I can confidently say that they've improved significantly since my first one. I'm the first to admit I have a long way to go, but I'm definitely more comfortable in front of the camera, and my technical skills have got so much better. Of course this will be the year I start making short films and really challenge myself, so in a way, I feel like I'm just getting started all over again. Sometimes it takes a while to find yourself and your audience online, but after a year on YouTube and nearly two on this blog... I think I'm getting there.

Oh, and if you haven't subscribed to my channel yet, you definitely should! I post a new video every Friday at 6pm.

*Ok so I missed one or two weeks, but that was due to technical difficulties, not a lack of enthusiasm.
