Hello, internet. I'm new here. I thought this tag would be a good way to introduce myself.
- I'm 23 years old.
- I act like I'm 33 years old.
- I'm a natural redhead (though I'm currently using henna to make my hair extra ginger).
- I'm from Manchester, UK. I've lived here all my life.
- I'm currently doing a Masters Degree in Photography.
- On said Masters Degree, I specialise in self-portraiture. A lot of my work is exploring how photographs can disguise themselves and/or hide things in self-portraits.
- I have a pet dog called Bowie (we have a thing in my family of naming dogs after musicians). She's half Labrador, half Border-Collie.
- I like making To-Do lists far more than the average person.
- I much prefer being indoors to being outdoors.
- When in doubt, I prefer to be over-dressed rather than under-dressed.
- I own ten cameras, not including the one on my phone. Some film, some Polaroid, some digital. (Not all of them are expensive! Besides, I'm a Photography student. That makes it OK.)
- I've always been an artist of some description. I loved drawing as a young child, creative writing when I was about ten, painting as a teenager, and then got into Photography when I was 15 to aid my paintings. When I was 18 and started Art School, I bought my first DSLR and decided to focus solely on Photography. By the time I finish this MA, I will have been at that same Art School for six years.
- I pay a lot of attention to other people's emotions. If someone is upset I'll usually pick up on it quite quickly.
- I met my boyfriend online.
- When I was in Sixth Form, I was addicted to The Sims 2. I used to make films on it.
- You can always count on me to say exactly the wrong thing. I can be very clumsy with my words - but my heart is in the right place, I promise.
- I always try to be nice to everyone, even when I'm in a really terrible mood.
- When I know I'm not leaving the house, I won't change out of my pyjamas.
- I have a weird sense of humour that very few people understand.
- I need at least four cups of Earl Grey a day to function - how very British.
- I'm quite well-spoken, but I'm not posh. (Not that there's anything wrong with being posh, I just sound a lot posher than I actually am.)
- I've always been a student. In September, when my course is over, I will be looking for a full time job of some description and this terrifies me - but at the same time I really want a change. And the income would be nice!
- I want to do a road trip of America at some point.
- I'm really good at keeping my head together in stressful situations.
- I don't like horror films at all, except the tame ones that are more like thrillers like The Ring. You know, the sort of thing thirteen-year-old's watch at sleepovers.
- As well as collecting makeup, I also really like hoarding stationery, especially pretty notebooks.
- I have a scar on my lip from when I fell off a scooter and landed face-first on the concrete when I was about twelve years old.
- I try to see the silver linings in every situation.
- I'm very easily grossed out. Please do not discuss bodily functions around me.
- My favourite colour is blue, which I wear most of the time.
- My favourite colour for lipsticks and nail polish is pink. I seem to have accumulated dozens of nail polishes in very similar sheer-nude-pink shades. Please tell me I'm not the only one who does this...
- My favourite TV shows are Doctor Who, Sherlock, Game of Thrones (though this is a huge contradiction to Fact 29 about being easily grossed out, as this programme is quite gorey!), and a few programmes that have finished now such as Fringe, and Life on Mars/Ashes to Ashes. I really like comedies too but I don't get quite as excited by them in the same way, it's more something that I'll have on in the background.
- I'm terrible at all sports.
- Personal space is very important to me. If someone I don't know that well stands too close, it bothers me.
- I'm quite stubborn sometimes.
- I very rarely drink alcohol. I could easily not drink it at all for the rest of my life. I just don't see the appeal in being drunk. Because of this, I don't feel comfortable in bars, pubs or nightclubs.
- Another reason I dislike nightclubs is that I can't dance. I just... can't.
- I get really annoyed by people walking very slowly in front of me.
- I tend to change my appearance in some way every 18-24 months. It's a bit like when The Doctor regenerates.
- I really like electro music, or any kind of music you can make on a computer.
- I always feel sorry for people who eat alone in restaurants and cafes. I try to avoid eating alone in public in case other people feel sorry for me.
- I like collecting second hand 35mm slides on eBay and scanning them. They usually turn out to be travel photographs from the sixties/seventies. In my collection, I also have some prints and Polaroids of other families. I always wonder how they ended up being sold online. If someone from the family contacted me and said I had photographs taken by their granddad or something, I would try to send the photographs back to that person.
- I'm a cuddly person.
- When I hear dance songs that have no vocals, I find myself making up lyrics for them.
- I have no self-control when it comes to eating chocolate or buying makeup. I consider them to be my major weaknesses.
- My biggest fear is that I've spent all this time at Art School perfecting my craft, and I might never earn money from my creativity. A lot of very talented Art graduates don't.
- When I watch a comedy programme that I really love, like Friends, or Gavin and Stacey, even though I've seen each episode three or more times I'll still laugh like it's the first time I've watched it.
- I'm very attracted to bravery in a man. It's important to establish that when I say brave, I don't mean confrontational or good in a fight. I mean someone brave enough to tell me how they feel about me, and brave enough to survive the bad times in life. I think that any man is capable of being there for the good but only someone truly brave can handle the bad. This is what attracted me to my boyfriend.
- Even though I've never watched Mad Men, I consider Christina Hendricks to be my major Style Icon. She's a redhead, like me; curvy, like me; and has a vintage-inspired style, like me.
- I am not physically capable of having a nap during the day. I really wish I was.
Wow, fifty facts is a lot of facts. You'd be surprised how long it took me to write this.
