I Got a Record Player... Am I a Hipster Now?

I don't remember exactly when I decided that I desperately needed a record player in my life, but I'm that sort of person that once I get an idea in my head - no matter how absurd - I have to pursue it. Heaven knows why I decided that I needed the most expensive form of music avalible when I can barely afford new shoes (and believe me, I need some new shoes. Not like "oh they're so beautiful I need them in my life" need them, more like "my shoes have literally fallen apart and I only have one nice pair" need them).

My mum must have liked the idea just as much as me, because on my 26th birthday she gave me a lovely Denver VPL-120 record player in the light blue colour (the exact one I'd pinned on my  Wish List board on Pinterest).

This is a much more stylish option than some of the bigger, older record players my dad and grandparent's owned, and doesn't require extra speakers as it has some built-in (though you can add some if you wish). You can even plug it in to your computer and convert your records into MP3 format.

I already have access to plenty of my father's and grandmother's vinyls, but I really want to slowly build up my own collection. So as another birthday present, my dad got me the new album Moon Shaped Pool by Radiohead. I want to buy a few of my all-time favourite albums so that I have a physical copy of them. I have a few on my Pinterest board, but I'd really like to get Mezzanine by Massive Attack, Surrender by Chemical Brothers, Swim by Caribou, II by Unknown Mortal Orchestra, and many more.

If you're a music lover, have you got a vinyl player? Or do you prefer streaming/downloads?
