The Colouring Book Strictly for Grown-Ups

Colouring books for adults are nothing new, but I'd never considered getting one myself until I saw Creative Coloring Inspirations by Valentia Harper. Recently I've been making more effort to set time aside for myself, and this is perfect as it's one of my very few hobbies that don't involve a computer.

There's something about getting out the felt-tip pens that feels very refreshing. I know that I'm quite creative in general, but using pen and paper just feels more traditionally artistic than sitting at my laptop all day. It brings back some fond nostalgia from 90's childhood entertainment, before the internet was a thing, which is perhaps why I find it so soothing. (Don't get me wrong, still a massive fan of my digital life, but apparently it's healthy to look at something that isn't a screen once in a while.)

I like this colouring book in particular because of all the fun, positive messages inside. I feel like that will help me feel more positive on some subconscious level. I usually prefer coloured fineliner pens and felt tips as my weapon of choice, but when I'm feeling especially creative I'll crack out the watercolours. I don't know if I've mentioned this before, but I was a painter long before I was a photographer. Since I got comfortable using a DSLR I regularly pick up a paint brush, which is a shame but there are only so many hours in the day. It's been really nice to get back into it!

Have you thought about getting a colouring book? What's your favourite way to relax offline?
