It’s no secret that I have a lot of clients with their own blogs or YouTube channels, and in most cases it’s the first time they’ve worked with a professional photographer. It can a little daunting to have a stranger pointing a DSLR at you when you’re used to your mum or significant other taking your photos. What are you supposed to wear? How do you pose? I appreciate that it might be overwhelming, so I thought I’d write this post or anyone who’s thinking of investing in a photoshoot soon… and no, it doesn’t have to be with me! (But, you know, I’m pretty good. Just saying.)

I never thought I'd be writing a post like this, because from the age of 22 my dream was to be a "YouTuber". But I just don't love YouTube anymore. Back in 2012, I had just started a Masters Degree, and was overwhelmed with stress and anxiety. YouTube was (or at least felt like) a safe place for me to escape.

This isn't the first time I've discovered photographs from my grandparent's younger years. I've said before that my mother and I are cleaning out my grandmother's house in Leeds, and we've found a few of my grandfather's photo albums along the way. This one is quite special.
I've had my Fujifilm Instax Mini camera for years (just in case you can't tell by the state of it). I bought it second hand from eBay in my second year of university, and we've seen a lot together in that time.

I've been travelling to Leeds a lot this year, since my grandma was diagnosed with Dementia and moved into a care home. My mum and I are tidying up her former house and getting it ready to put on the market. During one of our visits I was staying the night in the guest room, and found a yellow shoebox on the floor at the bottom of my bed. It was full of slides taken by my grandfather, who was very fond of photography before his death.
